Surprise!

Last night Kindee took me to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. In all seriousness, Sizzler has become one of our most frequented places to eat this year. I know what you're thinking -- Sizzler? But seriously, where else can you have a super healthy salad bar, all you can eat cheesy toast and some random ethnic side dish all in one place? Sizzler... see? If you drive by a Sizzler tonight somewhere, I can almost guarantee you'll look twice.

So there I am after dinner feeling so grateful that Kindee took time in her busy schedule to make arrangements for a baby sitter (thank you Brei) so we could enjoy an hour out on the town :)

As we left the "Sizz," I said to her, "you know, I'm sure glad that we could do this.. It was really just perfect." She seemed glad too as we made the 3 1/2 minute drive back to our place.

When we got home, all the lights were out but a few in the kitchen (as usual). She asked if I would run downstairs & grab the checkbook off her desk to pay the sitter. "Of course," I said and I hurriedly went down the stairs (thinking Brie needed to get to her study group).

Turns out, as I came to the bottom of the stairs, I was greeted with an explosion of "SURPRISE" from so many of my very most favorite friends. I seriously couldn't believe it! Kindee had totally "pulled the wool." I was already SO happy about the trip to Sizzler, that I thought it couldn't get any better... well...

The rest of the evening was filled with visiting and catching up with old photography and music friends over Kelli Jo's chocolate cake and home made baklava made by Jen Suflita - I felt spoiled rotten really.

So what I had thought was an already perfect thirty-third birthday with my sweetie, ended up being my very first surprise birthday party.

Thanks everyone (and especially Kindee)... it was perfect thanks to you.

My Birthday with little Lucy K

Today is my birthday... I'm 33 today and feeling pretty darn okay about that. I have been blessed with good health and energy and I feel grateful for that.

When I woke up this morning (slept in a little since it was my B-day), I peeked out around the corner and there were Kindee and baby Lucy on the couch. It got me thinking about how life might have been for me 33 years ago in my mothers arms on some frosty February morning there in Provo, Utah.

It was neat to have one of those "full circle" moments as I held her in my arms and felt her warm little body fit almost in one of my hands - thinking to myself that she too will someday have a 33rd birthday :) Pretty amazing...

Happy Birthday to me Lucy K... thanks for being here for it. I love you.

I learned how to use iMovie today :)
